The meeting of Jim Warnford and John Marden should have caused a shudder to run the length of the Wilhelmstrasse. Although all communication between Tommy and the two capable amateurs was illegal, unrecognized, and bv telephone, their combine was none the less effective. Their chase culminated in a crashing denouement in a lunatic asylum, where a stockbroker who thought he was St. Francis of Assisi and a gentle little man who swung clock weights with deadly accuracy contributed their share to the ruin of the enemy's plans.
