The Famine of Mount Lebanon This episode tells the forgotten story of starvation and disease that ravaged Mount Lebanon during WWI, killing a third of its population. BBC Arabic's Carine Torbey examines how they suffered and survived. 4. Siege of Tsingtao The only battle to be fought in the Far East during WWI had an explosive and lasting impact on Sino-Japanese relations. The Indestructible Warship, Tanzania 100 years ago, it was the fearsome German warship that ruled the waters of Lake Tanganyika, today it runs as the world's oldest passenger ferry.
