Hank Galliston is al 20 jaar lang de hoofdredacteur van het sceptische magazine,“Modern Skeptic”. Zijn hele leven ontmaskert
hij mythen en samenzweringstheorieën. Zijn motto is “Logic is the Compass”.
Totdat zijn vrouw Laila wordt ontvoerd vanuit haar winkeltje voor antieke klokken
dan beland Hank zelf in een van de grootste mysteries die de mensheid
ooit heeft gekend. In een van de antieke klokken zit een schatkaart verstopt ,
waar deze naar leidt kan catastrofale gevolgen hebben voor de mensheid.
Hank moet dus zorgen dat de map niet in de verkeerde handen valt.
Samen met zijn twee jonge assistenten en een FBI agente probeert Hank de
map te ontcijferen en zijn vrouw terug te vinden.
