Hank Galliston is al jaar en dag een redacteur bij Modern Skeptic,
een tijdschrift dat zich bezig houdt met paranormale gaven te
ontmaskeren, mythes te ontkrachten en complotten op te lossen.
Daarbij is steeds de logica zijn kompas geweest.Maar wanneer zijn
vrouw Laila ontvoerd wordt in haar antiekwinkel wordt Hank bij een
van de meest grote complotten van de menselijke geschiedenis betrokken.
Een complot met vertakkingen over de hele wereld en in de tijd.In een
antieke klok van Laila's winkel zit namelijk een schatkaart verborgen,
die wel eens verwoestende gevolgen zou hebben. Het is aan Hank om de
symbolen op de kaart te ontcijferen en zo de geheime van de kaart bloot
te leggen. Hij wordt daarbij geholpen door de jonge journalisten Rachel
en Arron en FBI-agente Becca Riley.Samen worden ze in een adembenemende
race tegen de klok gestort en moeten ze Hank's vrouw op tijd vinden,
voorkomen dat hun ontdekkingen niet in handen vallen van de mysterieuze
White Vincent en op deze manier zo de mensheid van een ramp te besparen.
