Cyclick Samples - Pure Evil Volume 1 [24Bit WAV] _Sin_

This is one nasty collection of distorted, twisted and debased sounds. There are 21 multisampled
instruments (all collated into SFZ patches), chord hits using devilish intervals (guitar, piano
and strings) and loops (guitar and staccato strings).

Everything was recorded through the pedals and outboard listed below to achieve the maximum amount
of filth. The guitars went through the compression and distortion pedals before hitting the two
Moogerfoogers and the Eventide ModFactor (prodigious use was made of the ring mod and 'Undulator'
algorithms on this), the latter providing a stereo output. Any final processing involved the
Reverence convolution reverb in Nuendo, Amplitube amp sim and PSP VintageWarmer. The strings and
pianos were sourced from the Kurzweil K2600 and the Cyclick archive drive and were, where necessary,
reamped with the Little Labs Redeye reamp/DI.

The chord hits and string staccato loops have their chord names as filename suffixes. For those not
familia with the nomenclature the main 'evil' intervals used are the minor 2 nd (a semitone above
the root), the minor 9 th (a minor 2 nd played an octave higher clashes less overtly with the root,
but still very edgy), the flat 5 th (written as 'b5'), dimished ('dim' – tone and a half intervals
from the root, which means minor 3 rd , flat 5 th and major 6 th ) and major 7 th , which is not
unpleasant by iteslf, but paired with a minor 2 nd makes for a whole bag of beat frequency clash,
particularly through distortion and ring modulation. Much of the dissonance throughout was achieved
by using the Moogerfooger and Evenide ModFactor ring modulators together and sweping them either by
LFOs or with expression pedals. Naz-tee!
