Description  This is the 2013 SHM-CD Remaster of Soft Machine's 1968 self-titled debut. Being one of my all-time favorite albums, along with my all-time favorite bands, and with my all-time favorite trio lineup in any band ever, I have nothing but praise for this album. While I can honestly say Third is almost leagues better than their debut; this album remains my personal favorite. I absolutely love that Wyatt is given way more opportunity to showcase his neat and quirky vocals; Kevin's unique lyrics don't hurt either, and Ratledge's organ is always the icing on just about any Soft Machine release. I wish there were a lot of great quality live recordings of this era; with all of the Jimi Hendrix recordings of his 1968 American Tour (Soft Machine usually opened for him and the Experience), surely there must be some recordings of Soft Machine in existence. Hopefully one day someone runs across a nice Soft Machine set recorded straight from the soundboard.
