The Goodies...at last Vol 1 DVDRip 576p 2ch x265 [S-Less]
In 1970, the Goodies unleashed their legendary blend of surreal sketches, strikingly topical satire, slapstick and general lunacy on an unsuspecting viewing public. Capturing the irreverent and rebellious flavour of the decade, this phenomenally popular, BAFTA-nominated series spread its mischief over twelve years, nine series and numerous specials, making household names of creators, writers and performers Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor. This volume comprises eight of the best episodes - from a giant white fluffy kitten called Twinkle to a slippery climb up a giant beanstalk, from the ancient Lancastrian art of Ecky Thump to finding out there s only half an hour left before the world self-destructs. Some of the gags and effects have aged better than others but true TV comedy genius withstands the test of time.
Episode 1. Tower of London
Within minutes of opening their own business, the Goodies are hired by the commander of the beef eaters to investigate the bizarre theft of all the Tower of London's beef. Soon realizing that the perpetrator is weakening the beef eaters so they can steal the crown jewels, the Goodies volunteer to protect the treasures and soon find themselves embroiled in a conspiracy that goes higher than they could have ever imagined.
Episode 2. Gender Education
Mrs. Desiree Carthorse (Beryl Reid, a deliberate parody of Mary Whitehouse) approaches The Goodies as the ideal people to make a clean sex education film about the facts of life. However, she thinks that S-E-X is a sin and does not want the word to be mentioned during the film.
Episode 3. Kitten Kong (Montreux special) (with Goodies commentary on 2nd audio track)
Graeme and Tim are hungry, and want their dinner — however they are shocked to find only soggy lettuce and potato peel to eat because Bill is feeding their normal food (and wine) to a guinea pig. When Bill explains to Tim and Graeme that he is being paid £30 to look after the guinea pig, the thought of being able to get some extra money leads to the Goodies setting up the office as the "Goodies Animal Clinic" for 'loony animals'.
Episode 4. The Goodies and the Beanstalk (with Goodies commentary on 2nd audio track and canned laughter free 3rd audio track)
The Goodies fall on hard times, and Tim and Graeme send Bill to sell their trusty three-seater trandem. All the local townspeople find it ridiculous and Bill is humiliated by only being offered a tin of baked beans. Tim and Graeme are disgusted with only getting baked beans, instead of money, but Graeme gets the idea to plant a bean. This rapidly grows into an enormous beanstalk - reaching all the way from England to the summit of Mt. Everest. In hot pursuit of their beanstalk, the Goodies enter an "It's a Knockout" competition, which is being held at the foot of Mt. Everest. Among other things, the Goodies have to climb the beanstalk to the top of the mountain, as part of the contest. There, they find the Giant's castle and, in it, a Giant of surprising height who has a valuable secret to protect.
Episode 5. Kung Fu Kapers
Tim and Graeme are attempting to learn Kung Fu in the Goodies' office, but Bill is extremely disparaging of their techniques, and shows them that he knows some rather impressive martial arts skills of his own. Under pressure from the other two, Bill reveals himself as a master of the secret Lancashire martial art known as "Ecky-Thump"
Episode 6. Lighthouse Keeping Loonies (with Goodies commentary on 2nd audio track)
Graeme accidentally volunteers himself and his fellow Goodies to mind an offshore lighthouse for five years. This is much to Bill's dismay, as he doesn't like things that are all round and literally everything in the lighthouse, including the room itself, is round. Things go even more haywire when a hurricane hits, Tim gets mumps, the oil to light the lamp runs out, and in trying to dig for more oil the boys inadvertently launch themselves into space.
Episode 7. Earthanasia
It is very late Christmas Eve and Bill and Graeme are preparing for Christmas. A carol service on the radio is interrupted by an announcement that the world is going to end at midnight, because the United Nations has decided that this is the best route forward, with the ever-worsening problems of racism, over-population, inflation and pollution.
Episode 8. Saturday Night Grease
Tim has gotten into disco dancing but he wants to dance with a partner and maybe find a girl that way, something that has recently become strictly illegal. He can't dance very well on his own, either, so Graeme gives him some lessons, hoping that will help him stop getting thrown out of clubs all the time. But Tim's newfound confidence leads him to get carried away and actually touch a member of the opposite sex at the next disco, and he gets into big trouble with the law, Bill and Graeme try to help him, and get mixed dancing made legal again, but swaying both the public and the police is not an easy task.
