The band of this year’s X Factor winner James Arthur have spoken out about the future following their front man’s victory.
Prior to the show, Arthur was a member of James Arthur Band – an unsigned five-piece pop/RnB/HipHop/Soul outfit. Though since winning the Syco record deal, it’s unclear whether Arthur will continue to write with his band.
Arthur’s first single release is a cover of Impossible – originally released by Shontelle in 2010 – but he’s been reported as saying his debut album will be his “own material”.
Talking to Music Week, bass player Rich Doney said: “At no point has James ever been forced to ditch his band in order to be on X Factor, in fact X Factor have been really supportive of our material and the band, and in some ways a great help.
"We have no idea what the future holds at this point, I think James may well get sent in the right direction, so hopefully he’ll avoid the dreaded winners curse and all that, but we have of course spoke and we will certainly carry on, in what way and when we don’t know right now.”
