Description

SLI CSX EMD GP15-1 Freight Set

The EMD GP15-1 is a 1500 horsepower road switcher which was in production from the early 1976-1982. There were only 4 railroads which purchased this model of locomotive, one of which was Conrail, with the largest order totalling 100 units.. The GP15-1 was originally meant to be an alternative to the rebuilding programs many railroads were undertaking at the time. This locomotive is typically used in yard switching and light road switching duties. Conrail merged with CSX and Norfolk Southern in 1999, and the GP15-1 locomotives were split between the new owners. Most, if not all of the Norfolk Southern GP15-1 locos have been retired. The CSX units, as depicted in this train pack, are still in service. This train pack comes with two GP15-1 locomotives and 8 freight cars.
